What Really Counts

Jesus told a story about a rich and successful farmer...

The farm of a certain rich man had done very well. The man asked himself, "What shall I do, because I am running out of room for my harvest?" He said, "I know what I'll do! I'll pull down my barns and build bigger ones for all the produce." I'll say to myself, "I have plenty stashed away for many years. Take it easy; eat, drink and be merry." But God said to him, "You fool, tonight your soul shall be required of you, and who shall get the things that you have accumulated?" So it will be with all those who accumulate riches but are not rich towards God.
See Luke 12:16-21

Jesus also said...

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth that can be eaten by moths or destroyed by rust, or can be stolen by thieves. Instead, store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
See Matthew 6:19-21

Jesus said...

What good will it be for anyone if they gain the whole world yet forfeit their soul?
See Mark 8:36

Will you live for treasures on earth while you neglect your eternal soul?

The world is passing away, and the things in it, but anyone who does the will of God will live forever.
See 1John 2:15-17

What is the will of God?

That everyone who looks to Jesus Christ for salvation and believes in him shall have eternal life.
See John 6:40
